<P>Hello everyone. Its a new year and hopfully 2010 will be a better year then 2009 for predator hunting. I took one dog last year. The bobcat season is in full swing and I haven't see a thing. The place that was great last season was just reopened for mountain lion hunting so there are people running dogs in there now. I don't know how much that effect them but I would think its not good. I have done some dog hunting over the holidays and nothing. I don't know if I need a new call or if I am doing something wrong but I am haveing the worst luck. I found a new place and went out yesterday morning and saw nothing. I had a really good feeling about this spot. There were tracks all over the place, but nothing came in. I hope everyone else&nbsp;is haveing better luck then I am. Good hunting.</P>

Just a thought!!!!

I am sorry but I just have to take a minute and rant about some hunters. It is opening day of the third rifle season and we have snow on the ground and it is cold. Usually a good combination! I went out this afternoon to see if I could put together a setup for coyotes and there were about a million hunters (exageration of course) sitting in their camps. I should tell you the time, it was around three in the afternoon. I couldn't believe it! I didn't get to do a set so I turned around and headed back down the road I came in on and toward the end of the road I saw about six deer feeding at the edge of this feild. I laughed to myself and kept on going. About two hundred yards down the road there were more deer out in another field. That is when I asked myself "should I turn around and tell these guyts that they should get off their asses and get out and hunt", I thought better of it and kept going. I don't know about you but the reason I go hunting is to be with good friends and family and to kill something. I know it is not all about killing something but if I wanted to sit around and bullshit with my friends I would not do it out in the middle of the woods in the cold. That is why I have a house. I was once told by a very wise person ( my father) that you will never fill your tag if you are sitting at camp. I&nbsp; guess these guys just like to spend all that money on tags and equipment to just sit around the fire. I am done. I have said my piece and I will move on. good hunting and be safe.

<P>Went out coyote hunting on the 24th with Barry and we didn't see anything. Drove all over the mountain and nothing. Just got some snow so maybe that will help get them out and moving. Going out again this weekend. Good hunting and be safe. </P>

Deer & Elk rifle season

Hey everyone, came home yesterday from the annual deer and elk hunt and nothing is in my freezer. We headed up to the flattop on Friday to find six inches of snow on the ground. Opening morning we woke up to a heard of elk about 50 yards from camp. Too bad it wasn't light enough to see them. We sure did hear them. A bunch of cow calls and a bull banging in the trees. Everybody went out for the morning and didn't see a thing. JD and I had deer tags and my Dad and a friend of his from work had Bull tags. Opening day came and went without a shot fired. The next two day were the same story. I don't know if the snow affectewd the animals or what it was because they were moving at night with no moon. Oh well, I hope everybody else had better luck. I guess we will get them next year. It is time know to focus on coyotes and bobcat. Good hunting everyone and be safe.

Hey everyone. Archery season is over and I didn't fill my tag. That is ok though because I got to be out in the wood and have the experiance of a big elk bugeling just 80 yards away. What makes it even better is I got to do it with my dad. Rifle season starts on the 17th of October so maybe we can get our deer. Jason Hart got his buck during muzzelloading season. They hunted hard for two weekends and on the last day he filled his tag. My boss filled his archery elk tag on the last morning of the season as well. He took a 6x1. Yes that is what I said a 6x1. It had a goofy spike antler on one side and a nice six point on the other. I will post pics when I get done with the Euro mount I am doing for him. Later all.

Also give thank to all of the folks in the armed forces for doing what they do so we can do what we. <BR><BR>I am still trying to get my elk. I am going out again tonight and I hope I can find one. Everyone have a good day and good hunting.

Elk Hunt

&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Well Opening day of archery season was last Saturday. I didn't get my deer tag so I bought an either sex elk tag and headed into a new area to hunt. I new alittle about this area from coyote hunting and my boss Barry. He hunts and lives at the bottom of the mountain and he gave me some advise on where to go. Opening morning started at 4:00 am. I headed to the spot I wanted to hunt but got alittle lost in the dark so I didn't get in to the opening until after sun up. The elk had already moved through so the morning was shot. I headed back to the same spot in the after noon but once again I was to late. The elk had moved through about an hour earlier. I forgot to mention that I was by myself on this hunt. Let me tell you that doing this by your self can get very boreing. There is no one in camp to talk to so you can go alittle crazy all by yourself. Anyway, I headed back to camp that evening and decided to packup and head home. I am not in the best shape to be walking up and down mountains and the heat was bad. I don't know I think it was not having anybody else there to keep me going that really did it. Well I have until the end of the month to fill my tag so I might get back out there and try again. Good hunting and I will talk to you later.

Well leftover big game tags went on sale yesterday. There wasn't very many left for the unit we hunt but my son and I got our doe rifle tags. I was trying to get one of the two archery tags but I was to late. I am going to have to get an over the counter either sex elk tag now and try and find some elk. We stood in line for about three hours yesterday to get the tags. Good hunting.

Turkey season

Well, turkey season is here and all the rednecks are ready to go. I got my bird on the second day of the season. I had to tromp through the mud to get him but I did it. He had an eight inch beard and about&nbsp;three quarter inch spurs. Kari got her bird about a week later. He was a nice jake. We are still looking for three more birds but they are getting harder to find with the limited public land around here, but I think we can do it. Well good luck and we will talk to you later.
